Please Pay Attention Please
an introduction
Please Pay Attention Please is a radio show and poetic collaboration hosted by Celia Easton Koehler and Alicia Watkinson. The show is currently on air out of Missoula, MT on KBGA 89.9 on Tuesdays from 4-5 pm MST.
On the radio we read a poem, play a song, read another poem, play another song, and sometimes offer some conversation about the poems. Often, we have a guest on the show who brings poems from their personal “canon” of poetry.
The idea is that this newsletter be an ongoing, affective, and living archive of poems and other forms of text, a digital extension of the radio show.
The radio show engenders a triangulation between original author and speaker of the poem (who is quite literally speaking someone else’s words out loud) and listener (who most the time remains invisible, anonymous, sometimes calling in to request or praise) that embodies a collaborative form of making-knowing and crossing distances. As a poetic collaboration we are interested in deepening these relationships.
